Our Client is a multinational company operating in the defence technology sector. In order to strengthen the Engineering Department, we have been asked to select the following professional figure:
The resource is responsible for the technical coordination of the design of the Defence Systems for the Italian surface ships, in full cooperation with the designated partners (Combat System Integrator for the Italian ships, CS Equipment Suppliers including the one responsible for the Anti-Air Missile System, Shipyard responsible for the CSPI and EM Engineering on the Italian ships). The CS Architect will have to provide the industrial requirements to the partners for the development of a complex multinational programme. This profile will be in charge of validating and verifying the requirements coming from the CS/CMS integrator's suppliers and shipyards. The CS Architect collaborates with the team of specialists and supervises the development of the main systems, ensuring the reliability of the information provided to the Customer through the contractual Deliverables. He actively participates in the definition of the Verification and Validation process, and in particular in the list and sequence of tests and trials for the CS equipment and the CS as a whole.
The CS Combact will participate in the subsequent phases by representing the client during integration, testing and acceptance activities, together with the domain specialists. The CS Architect will have to manage the proper execution of cross-domain studies in his domain of competence (safety, performance evaluation, EMC/EMI). He will contribute to the process of exemption analysis, evaluation and upscaling, bringing his expertise to the CS level.
He/she will manage by reporting progress and difficulties related to CS development, testing and qualification/acceptance to the company's WW Architect and Design WP Manager. This profile is the main interface between the Company and the Customer regarding project progress, will contribute to the preparation of ECPs, tenders, contract amendments in the field of studies and interactions between design, procurement and production.
Skills
Engineering degree with extensive experience as a systems engineer or architect of complex systems.
Professional English (spoken, written and read), French would be a plus.
Good understanding of the requirements of recognised development standards and processes, such as ISO 15288 or Mil-Std 499, adapted to industrial environments such as marine engineering.
Successful experience in the technical management of significant combat system functional chains for surface ships.
Proven experience in electromagnetic engineering on a heavily armed surface combat ship.
Successful experience in technical management of subcontracts in a complex multinational context (SoW, Specs, Acceptance).
Good knowledge of the combat management system for frigates.
Ability to monitor, as prime contractor, developments and tests at suppliers, integration platforms and shipyards.
Contract management will mainly be carried out by company managers with whom the EWS Specialist will be in close interaction.
