We are seeking a
System Specialist in Electronic Warfare (EWS) Engineering for our Engineering Department. This role involves the technical supervision of systems related to the mid-life upgrade of Italian and French Horizon frigates, working in collaboration with key partners. Given the technical nature of the systems involved and the unique context of a mid-life overhaul, the EWS specialist should be an experienced engineer with expertise in the design, integration, and interfacing of complex Combat Systems (CS) and proven knowledge in electronic warfare systems.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of complex subsystems integrated into first-class naval combat systems, including architecture, functional and physical interfaces (CMS, CSPI, navigation, etc.), and the performance of integrated systems onboard. As the EWS Installation Manager, the candidate will be responsible for technical exchanges with key suppliers, overseeing compliance with technical specifications (including reviewing documents such as SSS, SSDD, IRS, ICD), and addressing cross-cutting issues like EMC/EMI, security, cyber aspects, physical integration (IGD), and testing. Additionally, the specialist will handle safety issues associated with this equipment, such as RadHaz.
With proven technical management skills, the specialist will supervise the system's development and integration by suppliers and contribute to the overall control of the upgraded CS for the Horizon frigates, working closely with combat system architects. It is important to note that the main systems under the EWS specialist's responsibility will be common to both the Italian and French ships.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the correct technical execution of the contract with the system supplier and ensure its proper functional and technical integration, including participation in regular progress meetings, technical briefings, and internal reviews.
Prepare Naviris documentation for client approval.
Lead technical reviews with customers, ensuring supplier designs are accepted.
Analyze and assess modifications resulting from the ECP process.
Collaborate closely with other engineering specialists to manage system and requirements engineering tasks and validate supplier work.
Ensure configuration control, perform technical reviews, and manage key milestones with all stakeholders (internal and external).
Oversee the safety aspects of integrated systems and ensure compliance with quality standards for data and deliverables.
Profile:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of experience as a system engineer or architect of complex systems.
Experience in electronic warfare is a plus.
Proven success in technical management of subcontractors in a multinational environment (SoW, Specs, Acceptance).
Exemplary professional behavior with demanding clients and subcontractors.
Strong leadership and listening skills to ensure technical oversight of contributors to the success of onboard systems.
Ability to monitor supplier developments, integration platforms, and shipyards as the prime contractor.
Proficient in English (spoken, written, and read); French is a plus.
Previous experience in the operational maintenance of combat ships is an advantage.
